LCK

Gen.G will be making their debut at MSI after reaching the semi-finals of the 2021 and 2022 World Championships. For T1, this will be their sixth appearance at the tournament.

LPL

JD Gaming secured their spot at the MSI 2023 Playoff stage after winning the LPL Spring Final, with the losing finalist, Bilibili Gaming, starting the tournament from the Play-In stage.

Competition Format

The MSI 2023 competition will start with the Play-In stage, which will feature six teams. These teams will be split into two groups of three, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the Group Stage.

The Group Stage will consist of 10 teams, which will be split into two groups of five. Each team will play a best-of-one match against each of the other teams in their group, with the top four teams from each group advancing to the Playoff Stage.

The Playoff Stage will feature the top eight teams from the Group Stage, who will compete in a single-elimination bracket. All matches in the Playoff Stage will be best-of-five, with the winner being crowned the MSI 2023 champion.
